Executive Summary

After observing Leonardo Darville throughout his six-month probationary period, I confidently recommend the confirmation of his employment with Proficient Business Services Ltd.

While technical competency is an important component of any probationary evaluation, Leonardo's greatest achievement has been his rapid alignment with the culture, values, and mission of PBS. Throughout his tenure, he has consistently demonstrated that he understands our philosophy of delivering more value than we receive in payment, placing organizational success and client outcomes above personal convenience.

Leonardo has earned the trust of management and the respect of his peers through professionalism, integrity, initiative, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. He has matured beyond the expectations typically associated with a probationary employee and has already begun operating as a dependable contributor capable of leading project implementation with minimal supervision.

Based on his overall performance, I believe Leonardo represents the type of individual PBS should continue investing in as part of its long-term leadership pipeline.

Overall Performance Assessment

Leonardo has exceeded my expectations during his probationary period.

What has impressed me most is not simply his technical growth, but the maturity with which he approaches every responsibility entrusted to him. From the beginning of his employment, he embraced the PBS culture and consistently demonstrated behaviors that align with our organizational values.

He has willingly supported departments outside of his assigned responsibilities without being directed to do so — whether assisting Facilities with company vehicles at the end of the day, proactively bringing operational concerns to our Chief Operations & Financial Officer, or providing technical support to our Client Growth team. Leonardo consistently demonstrates a servant leadership mindset.

Rather than viewing his role narrowly through the lens of an ISS technician, he approaches each day with the mindset of contributing to the overall success of the organization. That level of organizational awareness is uncommon during a probationary period and reflects maturity well beyond his tenure.

Cultural Alignment & Professionalism

PBS places significant emphasis on cultural alignment because technical skills can be developed, while character and values are far more difficult to teach. Leonardo has demonstrated exceptional alignment with our culture.

His actions consistently reflect loyalty, accountability, professionalism, humility, and a genuine commitment to supporting those around him. He understands when to lead and equally understands when to follow, allowing him to integrate seamlessly within existing teams while naturally assuming leadership responsibilities when circumstances require it.

He has earned the confidence and respect of both management and his peers through consistency rather than position or authority.

One characteristic that distinguishes Leonardo from many technicians is his dedication to our organizational mission. He focuses on accomplishing the objective rather than merely completing assigned tasks, and his willingness to remain engaged until meaningful progress has been achieved reflects a genuine commitment to delivering quality outcomes for both PBS and our clients.

While PBS promotes a healthy and sustainable work-life balance, Leonardo has consistently prioritized project success and organizational objectives whenever operationally required.

Technical Performance

Leonardo has developed into a competent Integrated Security Services technician capable of independently executing production-level installations.

He installs, configures, commissions, and troubleshoots Akuvox access control solutions across both internal projects and live client environments. His work reflects strong technical competence, attention to detail, and confidence when solving complex implementation challenges.

More importantly, he has progressed to the point where senior technicians can confidently leave him onsite to lead installation activities while maintaining PBS quality standards. His technical decision-making has matured significantly, and he now requires minimal operational oversight during implementation.

Although his primary strength currently lies within implementation and commissioning, his next stage of development should focus on expanding his capabilities in solution architecture, system design, and broader software proficiency across the PBS integrated security portfolio.

Leadership, Initiative & Decision-Making

Leonardo has repeatedly demonstrated initiative beyond what would normally be expected from a probationary employee. One example that clearly illustrates his judgment occurred during the Clifton Heritage project.

Case in Point — Clifton Heritage Project

While reviewing the work completed by a third-party cabling contractor, Leonardo identified that camera cabling had not been installed according to the approved design. He also observed that the penetrations created by the contractor would prevent the cameras from mounting correctly and could potentially allow water intrusion into the building.

Without being instructed, Leonardo documented the issues, photographed the deficiencies, assessed the potential risks, and recommended delaying the installation until the contractor corrected the work. His recommendation protected both the integrity of the installation and the client's long-term investment.

  • Independent decision-making
  • Professional integrity
  • Ownership without supervision
  • Commitment to quality
  • Client-first thinking

Probationary Project

Leonardo successfully demonstrated that he can lead the execution of an Integrated Security implementation project. He effectively coordinated personnel, adapted resources when unforeseen circumstances arose, maintained communication with third-party vendors, and delivered a fully operational solution within the project's objectives. Throughout the engagement, he displayed confidence in decision-making, initiative, and the ability to lead others toward a common goal.

The primary development opportunity identified through the project was not the technical execution itself, but the project documentation and executive communication required to support a complete delivery. While the implementation met its objectives, the accompanying project documentation and executive presentation did not initially reflect the same level of quality as the installation. As a result, Leonardo has been asked to refine and resubmit his project presentation to better demonstrate the planning, documentation, and reporting standards expected of future PBS leaders.

This distinction is important. Leonardo has demonstrated that he can successfully lead implementation activities; the next phase of his development is ensuring that his planning, documentation, and executive reporting are of the same standard as his technical execution. As he progresses into future leadership opportunities, this competency will be essential in enabling him to not only deliver successful projects but also communicate them effectively to clients, management, and executive stakeholders.

Influence on the Team

Leadership is measured by influence rather than title, and Leonardo has already begun positively influencing the people around him.

His work ethic and commitment have elevated the expectations of those working alongside him — particularly Orange — through the example he sets each day. His technical competence has increased the confidence of his teammates, and his willingness to lead when necessary and support others when appropriate has strengthened overall team morale.

Most importantly, his influence has been earned rather than assigned. His peers respect him because of how he conducts himself, not because of any formal authority. That is one of the strongest indicators of future leadership potential.

Areas for Continued Development

Although Leonardo has made exceptional progress, continued development remains important. The primary technical area requiring additional focus is expanding his proficiency with the SafeNet platform to complement the strong expertise he has already demonstrated with Akuvox solutions.

From an organizational perspective, Leonardo's exposure has naturally been concentrated within Integrated Security Services due to operational priorities during his probation. To maximize his long-term value to PBS, I recommend providing increased opportunities to support Managed Services and other technical disciplines. Broader operational exposure will strengthen his business understanding and prepare him for future leadership responsibilities across the organization.

His development should also gradually transition from implementation excellence toward solution design, architecture, and strategic planning. He has demonstrated the ability to execute projects successfully; the next phase is developing the ability to design them.

Leadership Potential

Based on my observations, Leonardo has already demonstrated the characteristics necessary to become a future leader within Integrated Security Services.

If I were absent for an extended period, I would be confident assigning Leonardo responsibility for leading the implementation of a medium-sized ISS project. I trust his ability to coordinate technicians, represent PBS professionally before clients, make sound operational decisions, and deliver successful project outcomes.

While additional experience in solution design will further strengthen his leadership capability, I have no concerns regarding his readiness to lead implementation activities with minimal organizational disruption. He possesses the maturity, cultural alignment, technical competence, and peer credibility required to continue progressing toward a formal leadership position.

Final Recommendation

After carefully evaluating Leonardo Darville's performance throughout his probationary period, I fully recommend that his employment be confirmed.

Leonardo has demonstrated exceptional cultural alignment, professionalism, initiative, technical growth, and leadership potential. More importantly, he has consistently embodied the values upon which PBS is built. He has earned the respect of his peers, gained the confidence of leadership, and repeatedly demonstrated that he can be trusted to represent the organization with integrity.

Based on my observations over the past six months, I have full confidence that Leonardo can transition into a leadership role within Integrated Security Services with little to no organizational friction. With continued development in solution design and broader technical exposure, I believe he has the potential to become the future leader of the PBS Integrated Security Services practice.

For these reasons, I strongly recommend the confirmation of his employment and continued investment in his professional growth and leadership development.
